We had yet another lovely meal at our local, Masia Sumidors last night. After a short walk from our home through the pine forest and olive groves, we were greeted and quickly had welcome g&t’s delivered to our comfy sofa. We both had bacalao croquetas with a light curry mayonnaise. My partner had a Caesar salad, which he said was delicious. I had a fabulous piece of Iberian pork with sautéed potatoes and lovely crunchy vegetables. For dessert we had an apple cake with ice cream and a carrot cake with lemon mascarpone, both of which were made by a local lady and were beautiful. All of this washed down with a local wine made it a memorable evening. The atmosphere was very relaxed and the location exceptional. The owners, Natalie and Keith are charming hosts but the star of the show is young Alex, now just learning to talk but going round the tables in true waiter fashion, asking his customers if everything was alright. As evening turned to night the restaurant took on an even lovelier look, with fairy lights, strings of bulbs and floodlit trees and bushes. Thank goodness we have such a great place so close to us. If you are in the area, make sure you visit. If you are not in the area, book a room in this delightful Masia. You will not be disappointed.

We came here for the restaurant, not to stay at the BnB. Amazed Google maps knows where it is as the final 800 meters is up quite a random rocky road. They have vegan options, but you are best to let them know in advance as then they can prepare stuff in advance (eg vegan lasagne!) The food is very good, quite British I would say. The views are really lovely, there is also a pool which (I think!) diners can use as well as hotel residents. It would be a great place to hang out and have few drinks except for the person who has to drive home (that was me!) Though I guess you could always stay the night if they have a spare room!

Masia Sumidors is a truly fantastic place, a hidden treasure in the mountains not far from Barcelona (25-30 mins from the airport El Prat). It is a cozy and ancient house in beautiful surroundings, with an amazing view of the hills, a lovely pool, and extremely kind hosts, furthermore brilliant food on the top of that. Not only a rich breakfast with a wide variety of jams, fruits, eggs and local products but having lunch and dinner here is highly recommended as well! - It can be a destination as a restaurant as well if you want to discover the area. It worth to driving or hiking here! The menu for dinner is amazing such as in Michelin Guide restaurants, but here you are served by heart and soul. Highly recommended if you want to spend a few days or a week or more next to Barcelona. The city can be reached easily, while you can chill out and relax entirely. Natalie, Keith and Alex, thanks for the fantastic week, it was great to be there.

How do I get to Masia Sumidors? We recommend using Google Maps to find us as some navigation systems do not recognize our address. From Barcelona's El Prat airport: Follow the C32 towards Tarragona. Take exit 28 Sant Pere de Ribes. Turn right at the roundabout (C15B) Vilafranca de Penedés. You will see the Carnivor restaurant on the left, the entrance to our Masia is on the right-hand side just after a white house (the only one on this street). You will find us 800m up the lane, you are now in the Garraf National Park so please drive carefully and for you own comfort we recommend a speed limit of 10km/h. Here are our coordinates: N 41.2816635 / E 1.7651792 N 41º 16 '53 .989 "/ E 1º 45 '54.645"
